Notes for John Brady (Child 3)
Some records say 12 July 1812 or 1813 is the birth date. He is buried in Union Cemetery, 3 miles west of Harlan, IA.
He enlisted in army in Dubuque, IA, and served in Galena, IL, before being discharged at Jefferson Barracks, MO, during the Mexican War of 1848, received land bounty for service. It has been determined he lied about his birthdate in order to qualify for the land bounty when he enlisted in the army.
Was a ferry boat pilot, possibly for Ebenezer Seeley in Whiteside Co., IL. Ebenezer was a brother to Horace Seeley, the father of John Brady’s wife.
