Research notes for William Bates
William 1799 - aft 1870
Originally, I thought William must be the younger male living with Thomas in 1840, but then I found this fellow, and I do think he is a more likely candidate.

William Bates - 3m 20-30 (William and who?)
1f 20-30 (wife Eliza?)
This could be William, if he came over earlier - which might explain why he was less a part of the family reunion - he had had different experiences. The Bates family reunion notes do not support this supposition, but they are not totally accurate.

This might not be him, but note that Lucina is a servant to the Elias Barnes family from 1900-1920 at least
I don’t know when William died or where he is buried - he doesn’t seem to be in the Lowell Cemetery, where all the rest of the Bateses are.
It’s a little odd that William is not more present in the Bates Reunion notes, since he lived nearby (if this is in fact our William) all his life. But I can’t explain it.
