in 1911-13, ran a cleaner & tailor shop in Juneau. In 1914 forced to close. Became purser on the ferry “Alma,” which sailed between Juneau and Douglas Island. In Nov. 1914, purchased the Alaska Amusement Co., which owned the Juneau Skating rink. Kept his position on the ferry. In 1916 still ran a tailor shop. Resigned as purser with the Juneau Ferry & Navigation Company at end of 1916. Ran for alderman in 1922.
