"It must be remembered that these people living on the western frontier kept the Indians off the back of Washington and his men, giving them the opportunity to win the Revolutionary War in the East. If Tecumseh did not personally kill Nicholas Carpenter, he was the direct cause of his death. Both Carpenter and Tecumseh ended the same way, both being buried in unmarked graves, the exact location not known." (WFT Vol 23, #590)
