Joseph Bogue died in Courtland, Kansas, and is buried in Cloud Co., Kansas.
He and Hanna were married in Indiana, came to MO in 1837, stopped in Daviess Co., then came to Fox Creek Township, Harrison Co., took up a claim later sold to Daniel Brown, then took up land near Bolton, MO and in1872 moved to Cloud Co., Kansas. His wife, Hannah (Wiles) who died several years previously is buried in Springer Cemetery, Harrison Co., MO.

Josiah Bogue was born near Bolton, in Harrison county , MO, October 13, 1848, and died April 1, 1933, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 19 days. At the time of his death he was making his home with his daughter Mrs. N. B. Williams of New Hampton. He had lived in Harrison county his entire life with the exception of a little over a year in Trenton. He was always active in civic affairs and at one time he served as mayor of Gilman city and the coroner of Harrison county. At the time of his death he was the oldest native born citizen of Harrison county. He was united in marriage October 17, 1869, to Miss Nancy AnnTaggart, who preceded him in death six years ago. To this union three children were born, Lorenzo and Johnny, who died in infancy, and Mrs. N. B. Williams of New Hampton.
Early in life he was converted and united with the Methodist church and remained a faithful member of same until his death.
He is survived by his daughter Mrs. N. B. Williams, and one sister Mrs. Martha Jolly of Lebanon, Nebraska. Besides the immediate family he is also survived by a host of friends and other relatives to mourn his death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church of Gilman City by Rev. F. G. Seyfarth, pastor of the New Hampton Methodist church and assisted by Rev. F. R. Gillihan of New Hampton. The body was tenderly laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery to await the resurrection morn.

Josiah Bogue used four to six yoke of oxen to break the prairie land which was inhabited with rattlesnakes. He worked as a blackmith at Bolton, Trenton and Blue Ridge, for 30 years and a hotel keeper at Gilman City, MO, from 1900 to 1903. For twelve years following, he was with the Haynes Furniture Company, living in Gilman City. He was a stockholder in the Gilman City Bank, constable of Fox Creek Township for 14 years and elected coroner of Harrison County about 1883. He served one term as sheriff, had served two years as deputy sheriff under Thomas Barker. Served two years as Justice of Peace in Adams Township and is now , 1921, serving his third term as Justice of the Peace and member of the township board in Sugar Creek Township. Since moving to Gilman City, Mr. Bogue has served as mayor for three successive terms.
