Henry was a hatter by trade.
Henry and his family was living next door to his brother-in-law D.R. Ramsey in Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio in 1850.
After the death of his wife in Illinois Henry started back to Ohio by boat with his five children. When they were on the Ohio River Henry took the baby up on deck after dark to try to quiet her and that was the last they were ever seen or heard tell of either. They didn't know if he was robbed or had walked off the deck as the fog was heavy.
