After James’ death, Eliza Hilyard and their two children, Glen 3 and Francis, had gone to live with her father and mother, Jacob and Catherine Hilyard who also farmed in the Genoa area. Presumably the older children continued James' farming operation which was probably substantial based on his reported worth of $12,000--a large estate in 1850.
